Signed and dated by the artist at the bottom right. Framed in a beautiful gold frame. Isidore Ducasse Lautréamont. He was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. He was the first of Surrealism's literary precursors. He wrote under the name Comte de Lautréamont. In 1870, he published a volume of poetry, "Poésies." He is best known for his other work, "Les Chants de Maldoror," a nightmarish poem replete with grotesque, often erotic, imagery. He died in Paris, France and
