Artist Biography
Peter Hagen was born in New York City and grew up in Connecticut from where he was able to visit New York's numerous musuems. He remembers being most drawn to works of impressionist artists including Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet. By his early teen years, Hagen had decided to become a painter. He attended several art schools including the Art Guild in Connecticut and the University of Arizona. It was much later that he began to pursue painting seriously. In 1987, Hagen moved from Colorado, where he'd been sharpening his plein-air painting skills, to Taos, where he benefit from Northern New Mexico's milder climate and community of landscape painters. Community members including Ray Vinella and Ned Jacob fostered and supported Hagen's passion for painting. Peter Hagens work has been featured in numerous exhibitions in Santa Fe, Aspen, and Connecticut.
