Etching impression #25 of Fort Jay at Governor's Island from Schutz's Three Hundred Years of New York Series. Signed and editions along bottom edge of the piece in pencil. Hung in a complimentary brown frame and has original tag from Arthur H. Harlow and Co. Rare Etchings and Engravings on the back.
Artist Biography
Born in Berndorf, Germany on April 19, 1894. Schutz studied at the University of Munich and Royal Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts. By the 1920s he had settled in NYC. While on his way to the Orient he sketched and spent several weeks in San Francisco in 1928 and exhibited scenes of the City there at Gump's in 1934.
