Blue and yellow tonal painting with hints of black and white. The painting is in the style of Helen Frankenthaler's colorfield paintings. The painting is signed by the artist in the lower left hand corner. This painting is one of her earlier works before she started to produce them in series. The canvas is not framed.
Artist Biography
Karen Lastre was born in St. Paul, MN in 1940. She moved to Texas in 1965 where she began to work as a painter in 1969. She has been influenced by the color field abstract expressionist works like Mark Rothko. Her work has been purchased by private collectors throughout the United States and Europe. In 1994 she was a Merit Award at the Cheekwood Museum of Art in Nashville. She worked in a studio in Mid-Town at Art Square Studios. She showed her work in Dallas at the Mary Tomas Gallery where she had a individual show in 2011. She has recently passed in 2018.
