Warm-toned abstract contemporary figurative painting by Texas artist Bob Shepherd. The painting depicts a woman with a black cowboy hat balanced on her foot. The woman is in a small tin tub situated inside a bedroom. Signed by the artist at the bottom left. Framed in a thick, black wooden floating frame.

Artist Biography

Born in Dallas, Texas, portraits have always been Shep's greatest joy in his second career. He was an Account Executive for Wrangler Jeans for 30 years, winning Sales Person of the Year five times. After retiring in 2011, the artist devoted his full energies to painting. Geoffrey Laurence of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Tina Szajko of Bellville, Texas have been major influences in his style. He uses the 5 Step Venetian method of painting featuring Drawing, Grisaille, Warm/Cool Stage, many Glazes, and finally varnishing his work. "Queen Ida" "Queen Ida" 3/3 Examples of previously sold work: The artist currently has two studios, one at his home in Bentwater on Lake Conroe outside Montgomery, Texas, and another one at his summer cabin in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. He helped start and organize Bentwater’s Fine Art Festival. He also offers “Paint Like a Venetian” Method Classes including a stay at his beautiful cabin in cool Cloudcroft in August.
