Born in Dallas, Texas, portraits have always been Shep's greatest joy in his second career. He was an Account Executive for Wrangler Jeans for 30 years, winning Sales Person of the Year five times. After retiring in 2011, the artist devoted his full energies to painting. Geoffrey Laurence of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Tina Szajko of Bellville, Texas have been major influences in his style. He uses the 5 Step Venetian method of painting featuring Drawing, Grisaille, Warm/Cool Stage, many Glazes, and finally varnishing his work.
