Early abstract figurative painting of dock workers by an unknown artist. Inspired by the dynamic poses and robust figures of Thomas Hart Benton, the work features a group of African American dock workers moving cargo in front of a red ship. Blending the imagery of the Ashcan School of modern laborers of the time with the dynamic, documentary nature of the art of the Works Progress Administration, this piece is emblematic of its era. Signed and dated by Edmundo Sinas in the front lower left corner. Currently hung in a green frame with gold-trim.
