Modern abstract painting by Italian artist Adorno Bonciani. The work features two abstract figures on horseback playing musical instruments set against the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella, a Florence icon. Signed and dated in front lower right corner. Currently hung in a wood frame with gold leafed accents and a white matting.

Artist Biography

Adorno Bonciani was described as a calm and gentle person. He never went to art school but at an early age he showed talent for drawing. His drawings were published in a newspaper called Bargello in the 1930's. They were chosen for publishing because of the maturity that both of the pieces has. It was surprising that a 12-year-old boy executed such high-quality work. His early works are scattered around the work, especially in the United States. His work was very successful in American Galleries. His paintings and drawings were greatly influenced by the futuristic style and cubist period.
