Modern red, blue, and green interior still life painting by the artist Gary Pettigrew. The work features four department store mannequins styled in 1980s fashion set against a red background and green curtains. Signed and dated by artist in front lower left corner. Currently hung behind glass in a black wood frame with a thick, white matting.

Artist Biography

Gary Pettigrew, born 1935, received an Individual Artist Grant from the Ohio Arts Council in 1997. Numerous exhibitions include the Hassam Fund Exhibition at the American Academy of Arts and Letters in New York City; "More Than Land or Sky: Art From Appalachia" at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC (traveled); and "Realism More and Less" at The Southern Museum in Portsmouth, Ohio and the Riffe Gallery in Columbus, in 1998. His paintings and drawings are in the collections of the Dayton Art Museum, The Butler Art Institute, and many other private, public, and corporate collections. Teaching drawing and painting at Ohio University since 1962, he was the recipient of the University Professor Award for his teaching in 1986-87, and two Baker Fund awards. He was Director of the School from 1986 to 1989.
