David Hickman was born December 2, 1937 in Alexandria, Virginia. He was a Professor of Fine Arts at the University of Houston. He obtained a B.A. from DePauw University, and a M.A. and M.F.A from Northern Illinois University. He came to U of H in 1969, and developed the Masters of Fine Arts program in 1975. Hickman passed away on August 23, 2010 at the age of 72.
