Blue, gray, and yellow abstract figurative colored lithograph by French artist André Masson. The piece depicts several figurative elements such as limbs, bodies, and faces in profile view printed on wove paper. Signed by the artist at the bottom right and editioned 98/200 at the bottom left. Glass framed in a modern black frame. This particular work is included in the 1975 Portfolio "Omaggio a Michelangelo" (Homage to Michelangelo) which comprises 13 prints (8 partly colored etchings and 5 color lithographs). The portfolio includes other original signed and editioned prints by artists Horst Antes, Jorge Castillo, Emilio Greco, Renato Guttuso, David Hockney, Jean Ipoustéguy, Fiacomo Manzù, Marino Marini, André Masson, Henry Moore, Eduardo Paolzzi, Fritz Wotruba, and Paul Wunderlich.

Artist Biography

Andre Masson was born in Balagny-sur-Thérain, Oise, but when he was eight his father's work took the family first briefly to Lille and then to Brussels. He began his study of art at the age of eleven at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, under the guidance of Constant Montald, and later he studied in Paris. He fought for France during World War I and was seriously injured.
