Naturalistic sporting landscape painting by Texas artist Al Barnes. The work features a central male figure on an airboat with his dog set against a quiet coastal Texas landscape. Signed in the front lower right corner. Currently hung in a gold leaf frame. Retains the original Meredith Long & Company tag the reverse.
Artist Biography
Al Barnes, American (b.1937-2015) Rockport, Texas artist Al Barnes is not only inspired by the coastal marshes of South Texas he is also incredibly drawn to Caribbean as well. He finds continued inspiration in the majesty of ocean waters and the life that is intertwined to it. These themes can be found in a majority of his paintings. He has had numerous one man and group exhibitions and is widely collected. His works can be found in many private corporate collections around the world, including the National Wildlife Museum in Jackson Hole and The American Museum of Fly Fishing. Al has had the honor of being named twice the “Waterfowl Artist of the Year” by National Ducks Unlimited. He has also had the honor of being the Texas State Ducks Unlimited “Artist of the Year”. Al was chosen by the Coastal Conservation Association to be their Stamp Artist three times and has been the Texas Saltwater Stamp Artist once, the National Ducks Unlimited Stamp Artist two times and the International Game Fish Association “Featured Banquet Artist”. His has been invited to participate in numerous invitational shows including the Birds in Art show in Wausau, Wisconsin, The Mystic Maritime International in Mystic, Connecticut, the SW Pastel Society and the SW Watercolor Society show. His has been featured in numerous magazines including Sporting Classics, Gray's Sporting Journal, Southwest Artist, Florida Sportsman, Marlin Magazine and Artist Magazine.
