Maroon, red, and orange abstract modernist painting by known Houston, TX artist McKie Trotter. This painting depicts a large maroon form with a bright pink vertical brushstroke in the middle against a warm orange background. Signed by the artist at the lower right. Artist Biography

McKie Trotter was born in 1918 in Manchester, Georgia. He pursued his growing interest in art, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg Virginia. Drafted into the war, Trotter served as an infantry captain in 1943 and found himself as a prisoner of war until 1945. After the war, he returned to Georgia and earned his Master’s at the University of Georgia, Athens. Later, a teaching position in Fort Worth prompted him to relocate to Texas.
