About
A reinterpretation of a Classic form. The table exhibits a subtle color and texture. This table is unique and perfect for a small space beside your favorite lounge chair. The word, shagreen, is based on the Mid-Eastern word, Shagri, describing a rough hide. The art of shagreen was first used in Turkey during the 12th century. At that time, the coarse, durable skins of sharks were inlaid on shields and used in battle. The skill of working this material was brought to France during the reign of Louis XIV.
