Artist Biography

Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, he began painting in 1962, helped by his brother Franklin, also a painter. In 1980 he won first prize in an international exhibition in Hamburg, Germany. Since then, his works have been shown throughout Europe, the U.S., and Mexico. Latortue is best known for painting animals, giving them human characteristics in fairy tale settings.
