About
Modern needlepoint textile tapestry of the Biblical parable of Jonah and the whale by Houston artist Robert Lunny. The work features the prophet Jonah sitting in the belly of a whale. As punishment for disobeying his directive, God set a storm upon his ship and the crew tossed him overboard. Instead of letting him drown, God sent a whale to swallow him whole. Jonah was in the belly of the whale for three days and three nights during which time he repented. On the last day, God had the whale throw up Jonah onto the shores of Nineveh, the original location God had wanted him to travel. Signed by artist in front lower right corner.
