Modern Needlepoint Textile Tapestry of the Parable of Daniel in the Lions' Den 1960s

Textile, mixed media

Modern needlepoint textile tapestry of the Biblical parable of Daniel in the lions' den by Houston artist Robert Lunny. The work features Darius and his advisors coming to check on Daniel, the central nude figure, after he had spent the night in the lion’s den for continuing to pray to God after a decree was issued that no prayers be addressed to any god or man for thirty days. Daniel replies that his God had sent an angel to close the jaws of the lions, "because I was found blameless before him". Signed by the artist along the front central margin. Currently unframed, but options are available.
